Stellata Rosea

FEATURES:

Star magnolia is a one of the earliest magnolias to flower. Stellata Rosea is a popular variety with star-shaped, light pink flowers and a lovely scent. Blooms on bare branches early in the spring, followed by lustrous green leaves.

SHAPE:

Dense rounded shrub.

FOLIAGE:

New leaves emerge with a bronze tint and turn a dark shiny green. Autumn leaf colors are yellow to copper. Brown fruit opens to expose an orange red seed in early autumn.

FLOWERS:

Fragrant, light pink, star shaped flowers, fading to white with age.

COMMENTS:

Excellent slow growing specimen tree, ideal for smaller gardens. Plant in a sunny position with good drainage and shelter from wind, so that the flowers are not damaged. Fertilize and prune to shape after flowering if required. Frost tolerant.

TREE CARE:

Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
