Smoke Bush

FEATURES:

A unique and very ornamental form of the ‘Smoke Bush’. The brilliant yellow of its rounded leaves do not scorch in direct sunlight (unless exceptionally dry conditions prevail) but in fact become more iridescent yellow with the more sun it receives.

HEIGHT & WIDTH:

Growing to approximately 2.5m x 2m

SHAPE:

Prune to shape

FOLIAGE:

Brilliant yellow rounded leaves, more an iridescent yellow in full sun, part shade will induce more lime yellow colourings.  In addition we see the usual plumes of smoke-like flowers normally associated with this shrub during summer, as well as an autumn foliage display of coral, orange and red.

COMMENTS:

Slow growing, reaching its mature size after around 10 years, this medium sized shrub is highly prized for its decorative appeal.  An application of slow release fertiliser during spring would be beneficial.

TREE CARE:

Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep moist until tree is established. Fertilise when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune to shape if necessary.
