Standard Indian Bean Tree

DESCRIPTION:

A dwarf growing form of Catalpa produced on a standard. Slow growing, dense branches form a rounded ball. Large mid-green heart shaped leaves which turn yellow in autumn. The species produces white flowers with a yellow and purple throat, however this cultivar rarely flowers. Long bean-like seed pods may also be produced.

Ideal feature or shade tree for smaller gardens. Protect from strong winds as branches are quite brittle. Highly tolerant of urban pollution.

TREE CARE:

TREE CARE: Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears, provide a firm stake for support. During dormancy, prune to an outward pointing bud.
