DESCRIPTION:

A medium sized deciduous tree or shrub, with a strong, upright growth habit. An abundance of slightly fragrant double flowers start as deep purple buds, opening to mauve in mid spring.

SHAPE:

Strong upright rounded shrub.

FOLIAGE:

Green heart shaped leaves.

FLOWERS:

Deep purple buds, opening to mauve in mid spring. Slightly fragrant.

COMMENTS:

These compact flower clusters are produced in abundance. Plant in full sun. Annual mulching and fertilizer in autumn recommended, with summer watering required.

TREE CARE:

Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union approximately 5 to 10cm BELOW the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune to shape if necessary.
