DESCRIPTION:

Halls Giant is an old, hardy hazelnut variety. It produces large nuts with very good flavour for eating fresh and for roasting and cooking.

MATURITY:

Late February to early March.

SUGGESTED POLLINATORS:

Barcelona, Cosford, Wanliss Pride. Although both male and female flowers are borne on the same tree, they don’t always flower at the same time. Planting different varieties will assist with pollination.

COMMENTS:

Hazelnuts are very high in protein. A compact growing tree that prefers temperate climates. 4m x 3m.

TREE CARE:

Plant in a sunny position with well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilise when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
