Kiwi Fruit Male

DESCRIPTION:

Also known as Chinese Gooseberries. The male plant is used only as a pollinator and does not produce fruit. It is a vigorous growing plant and a strong trellis is required to support this. It will also require hard pruning to keep growth under control.

MATURITY:

Late May to early June

SUGGESTED POLLINATORS:

Ratio 1 male plant to pollinate up to 7 female plants.

COMMENTS:

Kiwi fruit are eaten fresh and used in wines, juices and jams.
Very high in Vitamin C. Pick fruit when firm and store for best flavour.

TREE CARE:

Plant in a sunny position with well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilise when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
